Please someone help clarify something, and then I will try the software and leave a detailed review. Here's what happened to me: I watch DVDs from at least three regions, so when I bought my 2011 MacBook Pro, I flashed my Optiarc drive to RPC-1 without any problems. For the last two years, that was sufficient to watch ANY DVD from ANY region for the last several years. However, when I upgraded to OS X Mavericks, my MBP began prompting me to change the drive region before I could watch The X-Files from Mexico (region 4). I refuse to do that, so I did some digging and found this software. I hope it will let me see DVDs from other regions again. Anyway, right now, according to DVD Info X, my drive is flashed to RPC-1, but when I install Region X, it tells me that it can't determine the region status of my drive and to proceed with caution. Will using this software allow me to change the drive region (it currently says "no region" in Region X)? And will I be able to make further changes to the drive in Mavericks without using up the limited drive region changes that are allowed? I really need to hear from somebody before I risk locking my drive and ruining my MBP for all intents and purposes. Any and all information is very appreciated. Thanks.

Still works on Mountain Lion 10.8.2. And it's just saved my sanity. There's a prevalent bug in 10.8.2 that causes DVD Player (and any other apps using the same playback framework) to crash if the drive and disc regions don't match, without giving the option to change it. RegionX saved the day. Now we just have to wait for Apple to fix yet another glaring bug…

After successfully flashing my Matshita 857E ZA0E drive, I can reset the region counter in Region X 1.8 but not in 2.0. What gives?!
